Lausitzer Rundschau

The Lausitzer Rundschau, an institution of the SED for the brown coal region of Cottbus from 1946 up to the German reunification, is the leading independent daily newspaper in the Lausitz after taking over the
Saarbruecker Zeitung in 1991.

The Lausitzer Rundschau is published by the Lausitzer Rundschau Media Publishing Company, whose sole proprietor is the Saarbruecker Zeitung. Already in 1990 there was contact between Cottbus and Saarbruecken which then lead to the acquisition of the newspaper from the trust agency in May of 1991.

The Lausitzer Rundschau produces its 13 local editions with a very powerful pre-stage network and offset technology. It boasts approximately 300,000 daily readers and a paid circulation of around 100,000 issues. The 350 employees work hard in meeting the demands of the market by offering consumers a wide range of products. The Sunday market niche was filled at the end of 2008 with the introduction of the Lausitz am Sonntag. The advertising journal numbering a printed circulation of 115,000 reaches every household in and around the city of Cottbus. The Rundschau delivery company not only delivers the paper but also other printed products, non-addressed advertisements and letters as well. With a delivery volume of two million pieces per month the delivery company for the Lausitzer Rundschau has become the market leader in the private postal service sector between the cities of Berlin and Dresden. Online portals such as lr-online.de, the community platform LOCALIDO and the introduction as shareholder at 94.5 Radio Cottbus round out the strategy of the media company to serve their customers in all media channels.
