
W.H. Freeman
Founded in 1948, W.H. Freeman publishes natural sciences textbooks for colleges and high schools in the USA, drawing on the expertise of internationally renowned scientific authors.
Linus Carl Pauling (1901-1994), one of the publishing group’s first authors, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1954 for his research work. In 1963 he was also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in combating nuclear weapon testing.
Freeman’s best-known titles include their very first publication, General Chemistry by Linus Pauling, who later went on to win the Nobel Prize, Biochemistry by Jeremy M. Berg, John L. Tymoczko and Lubert Stryer and Physical Chemistry by Peter Atkins and Julio de Paula.
