Spektrum der Wissenschaft
Seeing our planet in context, participating in new developments and discoveries, and sharing the scientific view of the world.
With its magazines and websites, the Spektrum der Wissenschaft publishing house presents the results of the newest studies in a form that is comprehensible to the layperson. Many of the authors are researchers and experts who are themselves pioneers of scientific progress, a number of whom have later been awarded the Nobel Prize.
Spektrum der Wissenschaft, the German edition of Scientific American, was launched in 1978. It is the most rigorous German-language popular-science magazine.
Sterne und Weltraum is the oldest German-language magazine for astronomy. Launched in 1962, it is published monthly in close cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg.
Gehirn&Geist, the magazine for psychology and brain research, was first published in 2002 and quickly spawned licence editions in Italy, Spain, France, Brazil, the United States, Belgium/the Netherlands and Japan.
epoc, the magazine for history, archeology and culture, and the online magazine spektrumdirekt, which appears every working day, complete the high-quality publication portfolio of the publishing house.
A linking of the magazines with the online world and a direct exchange with the readers takes place on many levels: The publisher's web portal wissenschaft-online.de complements the magazine's websites, providing an overview of various areas of knowledge and offering access to specialised lexicons and dictionaries. In addition, the publisher presents further, targeted products such as Spektrum Campus for university students, Wissenschaft in die Schulen! for schools, the conference platform contoo, and, since late 2007, scilogs, the largest German science blog platform (with WISSENSlogs, KOSMOlogs, BRAINLOGS and CHRONOLOGS).
The Science-Shop, with its convenient online ordering, rounds out the publisher's web offerings.
